Trust & verification

Know who you’re buying from.

A Saanjha Verified Business badge means a business has been through real checks. It does not mean every risk is eliminated — and a badge that overstated itself would be worth less than no badge at all.

What verification covers

Six checks, applied to the level a category needs.

Not every check applies to every business. What applies is determined by the category and by the risk it carries, not by what a business is willing to pay for.

Business information

The name, category, address and community a business claims to operate in — checked rather than accepted.

Owner information

Who is actually behind the business, and documentation where the category or the law requires it.

Mobile verification

A reachable, verified number — the thing a member needs when an order goes wrong.

Location

Where the business physically is, sometimes confirmed with a visit rather than a pin on a map.

Business photographs

What the place actually looks like, so a member can recognise it from the street.

Category-specific tracks

Child safety for tuition, licensing for mobility, FSSAI for food, gated checks for doctors and spa — stricter where the risk is higher.

The limits, stated plainly

What the badge is not.

Our own design documents require that certification limits stay legible to the person relying on them. So here they are, on the marketing page rather than buried in terms.

Not a quality guarantee

Verification says a business is who it claims to be. It does not certify the quality of any particular product or job.

“Verified” ≠ “Trusted”

Verification is granted by the check process. Standing with a community is earned over time and is never issued automatically.

It can be taken away

Badges renew, and can be suspended. There is an appeals path, because a status that cannot be challenged is not a fair one.

Safety on both sides

A marketplace is only as safe as its weakest side.

  • Fake bidding and false commitments carry consequences — penalties, suspension of seller privileges, and an impact on rating under Saanjha’s policies.
  • Communities control their own membership. Join policies range from public to fully private, and approval-based communities give admins the context to make a real decision.
  • A preview never leaks a member list. You can see a community’s rules, admins and activity before joining — not who is in it, and not its chat.
  • Contact matching uses salted hashes only. Saanjha never uploads a contact book, never stores non-members, and never messages someone who has not asked to hear from it.
  • Disputes have a process, not a phone tree. Returns, refunds and disputes are handled as a defined flow, with evidence retained for the period the law requires.

Accountability

Who you can actually reach.

Under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020, a grievance officer must acknowledge a complaint within 48 hours. That is only meaningful if the address works.

Verification is how a neighbourhood tells the difference between a shop it knows and a listing it doesn’t.
